A Super Bowl holds a special place in the heart of any football enthusiast, and for many, attending the grand event is a cherished dream. For one superfan, Don Crisman, that dream has been a reality for every single Super Bowl to date—a remarkable 57-year streak.
However, as Super Bowl LVIII approached, obtaining tickets seemed like an insurmountable challenge that threatened to break Crisman's impressive streak. In a stroke of luck, Verizon caught wind of the 87-year-old's extraordinary story and intervened to ensure that he wouldn't miss the big game. Super Bowl LVIII tickets were delivered right to Crisman's doorstep in Maine, courtesy of Verizon.
Upon being surprised with a pair of tickets, Crisman exclaimed, "Oh my god. You are kidding me. Thank you all for helping me out. This is insane." Joe Russo, the Vice President and President of Global Networks and Technology at Verizon, personally handed over the Super Bowl tickets. As an additional honor, Crisman was made a member of the Verizon Test Force, a group of 3000 engineers responsible for testing the network.
Russo expressed the significance of having Crisman represent the Verizon Test Force, stating, "Verizon is known for having the best and most reliable, highest performing and secure networks across this nation. America relies on us. Don relies on us as a customer. The NFL relies on us. To have Don, someone who reliably attended every single Super Bowl, to be representative of the Verizon Test Force is such an honor."
Some years were easier for Crisman to secure tickets and enjoy the game with loved ones, while other years presented challenges. This isn't the first time Crisman's Super Bowl streak faced jeopardy. Despite close calls, he has always managed to secure the tickets, and everything has worked out in the end.
"There are two close misses," Crisman recounted, referring to almost missing Super Bowl II and Super Bowl XXXII. For Super Bowl II in 1968, featuring the Oakland Raiders and the Green Bay Packers, he recalled an icing issue on the plane, forcing him to take a train from South Carolina to Miami. Miraculously, he made it just three hours before kick-off.
Despite these close calls, Crisman's remarkable Super Bowl streak endures as he prepares to head to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, in less than a month.
