West Bromwich Albion Faces Midfielder Setback, but Captain Boosts Team for Norwich Trip

The Republic of Ireland international hasn't played since the New Year's Day loss to Swansea. In that game, he had to use painkilling injections to get through it in Wales.

Initially, there was hope that he might join the squad for tomorrow's Championship trip to Norwich. However, Carlos Corberan, the manager, revealed that the midfielder will be on the sidelines for several weeks. The exact duration depends on a second opinion from medical experts.

This season, the 24-year-old hasn't been a regular starter but often comes in as a substitute in central midfield. Okay Yokuslu and Alex Mowatt usually have the starting roles.

Corberan expressed, "Molumby unfortunately is different because the injury didn't progress in the way we expected. He kept having pain, and we sent him to a specialist for a second opinion to manage it better. But normally, he won't be ready to play with us in the next weeks. I expect to know more about how many weeks he'll be out soon. We can guarantee he won't be in the next game."

On a positive note, Nathaniel Chalobah, another central midfielder, is fine after a stomach complaint last Saturday. Despite Molumby's setback, the team is uplifted by the return of captain Jed Wallace, who is now at "100 per cent" and in contention to start.

Corberan added, "In the previous game, he wasn't ready to start, but we brought him from the bench, and he was in good condition. He has completed normal training with the group and is 100 per cent ready for a decision on him."

The Baggies had some illness in the camp this week, with Corberan himself staying home until the middle of the week due to feeling "terrible" after the Blackburn game. However, training proceeded as planned.

Corberan explained, "Even when you control everything, when you're in charge of everything, you need to create one structure that works without depending on any single one. This is the target as a coach to have."

By Friday, Corberan was fine and conducted his media duties as the squad prepared to travel to Norfolk. Norwich is currently 11th, just two points outside the top six.

In other matches, Albion's main play-off rivals Sunderland and Hull, who are seventh and ninth respectively, were set to meet at the Stadium of Light tonight.
