"Kid Cudi Reminisces About 'Hiding' from Lupe Fiasco Before Fame: 'He Still Holds Resentment Towards Me,' Reveals Bernadette Giacomaz"

 Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco haven't been seeing eye to eye for quite some time. But even before their beef, Cudi had a gut feeling that things might not go smoothly between them.

In a recent chat with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Cudi spilled the beans about a close call with Lupe back in 2008 at the BAPE store in NYC, where Cudi was working before hitting it big in the music scene.

Cudi spilled, "Lupe Fiasco came to the store one day. I was in the back, and they were like, 'Yo, Lupe's here.' I was like, 'Oh shit!' Stayed down the stairs [in the stockroom], waited until he left. [My colleagues] were like, 'What you down here for?'"

He explained to his friend that he didn't want Lupe, or any famous rapper, to use his retail gig against him in a future feud. And guess what? That's exactly what happened with Lupe.

Cudi said, "If you think about it, he hates me to this day! He hates me. So I was right, I was onto something. I sensed something in the universe. I was like, 'F*** this, I can't have nobody making a diss record like, 'Yeah, you rang me up, muthaf***a.'"

Now, the beef started cooking in 2014 when Cudi and Lupe got into it on Twitter. It all started with Lupe charging fans $500 for a personalized verse, and Cudi thought that was a bit shady.

Fast forward to the next year, Lupe dissed Cudi at a show in Milwaukee, making it clear that if they ever cross paths, it's not going to be friendly. He dropped some bars like, "P.S.: To all my enemies, you are now forgiven/ Except Kid Cudi, ’cause that’s not my muthafin’ buddy/ If I see him in the streets, it’s getting’ muthafin’ ugly."

Even in 2022, Lupe took a shot at Cudi, commenting on the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident at the Oscars. He tweeted, “I hope they can find some time to come to terms with what happened, reconcile, and move on. But it’s still F*** Cudi 4 life."

In December of that year, when a fan asked if Lu could see himself ending the feud with Cudi like some younger rappers did, his response was crystal clear: "Never. F*** him 4 life."

And when another fan pointed out that everyone seems to dislike Kid Cudi, Lupe doubled down on his feelings, saying, "Outside of his musical genius, fame and success, Cudi is a really sneaky punk b**** a** b****... it’s not even that controversial or spicy of a take. His personal resume outside the spotlight is trash." Ouch!
